Pavliček emphasized that it is unbelievable that this kind of theft could have taken place, and that only five people knew about it, so he believes that it will soon be seen who else is involved.
Arrested persons in INA should have been supervised by those appointed by the Government, which brings us to the political responsibility of the Government, i.e. the relevant ministers, and even the Prime Minister himself, because clearly quality was not the key to being appointed to high and responsible positions, but party affiliation, says Pavliček.
If the Government had given every household in Croatia a voucher of 1000 kuna, which would help them overcome the energy crisis, the total amount would be less than the stolen money in this affair alone, and that clearly shows how big a robbery it is.
As more and more such arrests have been taking place lately, and shortly after them the arrested are released, the Croatian sovereignists will submit to the parliamentary procedure a proposal to amend the Criminal Code, which would specifically categorize economic crime against property owned by the state, and for this it would be possible life imprisonment. According to the currently valid law, even when the associated economic crime is proven, individuals are released after 15 years at the latest, and often much faster, Pavliček pointed out.
Vesna Vučemilović said that her initiative yesterday that the Parliamentary Committee for the Economy publicly hear the head of the Croatian Energy Regulatory Agency (HERA) as soon as possible was included in the agenda of the next session of the Committee.
Those responsible must explain how a robbery of this magnitude could have happened
“One of the basic tasks of HERA is the supervision of energy entities in the performance of energy activities, which include production, distribution, trade, supply and organization of the natural gas market. All those responsible must explain to the public how a robbery of this scale could have happened,” she said.
The public has the right to know what they do for the high salaries provided by taxpayers, says Vučemilović.
“The director at the fourth level of management embezzled HRK 1 billion associated with a company that has the same address as the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. It looks more and more like the director is the scapegoat while the wolves are still walking freely,” she added.
She especially emphasized that the arrested quintet committed malfeasance with gas that is pumped in Croatia, which should provide Croatian citizens with a lower price.
“I call on the members of the Management Board and the Supervisory Board to do the only moral thing in a situation where it has been proven that they did not do what the citizens pay them to do – to resign, and to pay all the compensation they received for their inaction to the reconstruction of houses in the Sisak-Moslavina County because there , right next to the stolen gas wells, live people who will spend another Christmas in containers,” said Vučemilović.
