If news, then right! The French development studio Ubisoft announced several new pieces of information about the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ series as part of the Ubisoft Forward event. It is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary.
‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’

The currently most current title in the series will receive another DLC – Ubisoft confirmed this a few weeks ago. The story structure should be the last for the role-playing game and complete the title. Among other things, loose ends of various characters and storylines should be woven in and questions from the fans answered. After the video game event, it is now officially clear that ‘The Last Chapter’ will be released as a free quest arc in 2022. A date for the final update of the game released in 2020 is not yet known.
‘Assassin’s Creed Mirage’
The studio has now officially announced the previously teased title ‘Assassin’s Creed Mirage’ for 2023. The first trailer shows Baghdad in the 9th century, colorful and with Arabic sounds. Players “take on the role of Basim Ibn Is’haq, a street thief with a mysterious past who joins the hidden in Alamut on a quest for answers.” As the thirteenth game in the series, ‘Assassin’s Creed Mirage’ is intended to be a homage to the series itself. Protagonist Basim already appeared in ‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’ (2020), parts of the setting are known from the first part ‘Assassin’s Creed’ (2007). The gameplay is not yet visible in the cinematic trailer, but Ubisoft promised it would be based on older titles. Parkour and stealth opportunities should play a greater role again, but experience points and levels should not return. All in all, Ubisoft packaged the new action-adventure about the eponymous brotherhood of assassins as a “thrilling coming-of-age story”.
An exact release date has not yet been set. The game will be released for PC, Xbox, Playstation and Amazon Luna. It will be included in the Ubisoft+ subscription service. The pre-order is now open.
‘Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe’

Another project that was leaked before the official announcement was ‘Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe’. However, Ubisoft did not really make it known. ‘Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe’ is supposed to be dark – fans suspect the Holy Roman Empire in the 17th century to be the setting, i.e. the time of the Würzburg witch trials. Ubisoft did not confirm this. However, the trailer showed an ‘Assassin’s Creed’ logo made out of branches in a dark forest, reminiscent of old witch symbols.
The game is said to be part of ‘Assassin’s Creed Infinity’, the upcoming “Games As A Service” online format, which is constantly being expanded with new content and is intended as a platform to network the community.
‘Assassin’s Creed Codename Red’
Like ‘Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe’, this title is just a rough idea of the project. However, ‘Assassin’s Creed Codename Red’ is set to take place in feudal Japan. Assumptions are circulating that the new part will work as an open-world role-playing game. So this part would be based on games like ‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’.
Like ‘Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe’, the release is planned as part of the ‘Assassin’s Creed Infinity’ project.
‘Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade’
Yet another far-off project announced by Ubisoft: ‘Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade’. This is supposed to be the first full-fledged game in the series for mobile devices. Similar to one of the three parts of ‘Assassin’s Creed Chronicles’ (2015/16), the game will take place in China, in the year 215 BC. The mobile title should offer gameplay that the big games can also do, but be optimized for touch controls. What is new is that you can create your own character. It will be released for both Android and iOS devices. When, Ubisoft kept a low profile, but the trailer says “coming soon”.
