Ubisoft announced a last major update for the current ‘Assassin’s Creed’ game with a Viking setting in the summer. It was known that there should be a story structure that should link the last loose ends in various storylines. The developer studio has now announced the release date for ‘The Last Chapter’.

‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’ will be finalized on December 6th. “We […] thus ending two fantastic years after launch,” summarized Ubisoft. “Title Update 1.6.2 will bring some exciting new content to the game, including ‘The Final Chapter’, a touching and intimate conclusion to Eivor’s saga.” After a brief synopsis of the game’s storyline, Ubisoft also shared the requirements for players to be able to start the epilogue.
Requirements for ‘The Last Chapter’
Before the final act of ‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’ can be played, a number of key points in the game must be completed. Of course, this includes the main story: protagonist Eivor must have made alliances with all areas of England. Likewise, the Mythic arcs in Asgard and Jötunheim must be completed. Players must also have their settlement level 5 and have built a Jomsviking camp. Eventually the head of the Order of Elders must be revealed as well as all of their targets eliminated.
There is then the mentioned conclusion for Eivor’s story and that of the raven clan. Seasonal quests will also end with this epilogue. If you haven’t been able to take all events with you so far, you should at least complete ‘The First Night of Samhain’ now. This unlocks the rewards from past festivals at retailers in the game. Ubisoft also announced a small cosmetic change that fans had requested: Eivor can keep the hood on permanently, even without a coat. The innovation should not affect the camouflage function, it is a purely optical mechanism. The studio was silent about other changes that update 1.6.2 will bring.
‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’: Kein New Game+
The DLC will be available for free to all owners of the game. However, the New Game+ feature will not be extended to include the Viking story. “‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’ was created as a unique experience that is structurally very different from previous parts of Assassin’s Creed and offers new ways to deal with the world and its characters,” said Ubisoft on this decision. “As we explored the possibility of implementing New Game+, we realized that due to the depth of the game, we had very limited ability to make a replay worthwhile or even special for you.”
By the way, fans of ‘Assassin’s Creed’ need not be sad with the conclusion of ‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’: During the Ubisoft Forward event in September for the anniversary of the game series, some planned projects were announced.
