November 7th is a special day for the ‘Mass Effect’ fandom. Based on a military code from the gaming universe, the developer Bioware has declared the day “N7 Day”. As part of the marketing campaign, the date has been used since 2012 to announce new content related to science fiction role-playing games. Also this year there was news from the studio.

New game still in pre-production
Editor’s recommendation
It is already known that a new game in the ‘Mass Effect’ series is currently being worked on. Accordingly, fans were excited to learn about advances to ‘Mass Effect 5’. However, the blog entry that Bioware published on its website offered little new information – the new game is still in pre-production. “The team of ‘Mass Effect’ franchise veterans and newcomers is constantly growing. They’re working hard on new characters and locations that you’ll love, as well as returning many that you remember.” Bioware also confirmed Mike Gamble as Project Director and introduced Danielle Enns as Development Director, Mary de Marle as Narrative Director and Parrish Ley as Creative Director. More information will follow “when we are ready”.
Teaser video puzzles
What is more interesting, however, is the concept drawing that was shared as part of the blog entry. The image was similarly published back in 2020 in the book ‘Bioware: Stories And Secrets From 25 Years Of Game Development’. It seems to show mass portals and is part of a mysterious video clip for the first time. Fans soon began to speculate as to what the strange audio track meant. If you download the teaser, mainly cracking and hissing noises can be heard in the 25 seconds. However, audio experts deciphered a hidden message: “Exactly, the council will be furious, although they should know by now not to underestimate human defiance.” Behind these words, the voice of the character Liara T’Soni, voiced by Ali Hillis, was recognized. That goes well with a statement from Jilliam Murray, who posed for Liara, that she will also be in the upcoming ‘Mass Effect 5’.
After the puzzle solution circulated around the internet for a while, project lead Mike Gamble confirmed Liara as the messenger. In the meantime, the clip has also been put online in a clear version by the games team itself.

Furthermore, curious fans paid attention to the text on the teaser image. The caption “vacuum-dock relay” seems to confirm the mass portal. “11_07_90” is interpreted as a date on the internet – possibly as an announcement of the time in which ‘Mass Effect 5’ is to play. The last part, ‘Mass Effect 3’, took place in the year 2186, so to 2190 it would only be a small jump in time.
‘Mass Effect’: Crossover mit ‘Die Sims 4’
Recently, Bioware also announced a cooperation with EA’s life simulator ‘The Sims 4’. Free crossover products will be available for the game starting November 17th. You can then dress your characters in T-shirts or hats with the N7 logo or that of the Andromeda Initiative. If you don’t already own the ‘Mass Effect’ trilogy, you can currently buy it at a reduced price. A release date for ‘Mass Effect 5’ has not yet been set. Before that, Bioware released the fantasy role-playing game ‘Dragon Age: Dreadwolf’.
