‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’: Next-Gen-Update im Dezember

While Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ recently stunned fans with news of the recasting of protagonist Geralt von Rivia, Andrzej Sapkowski’s video game adaptations seem to be doing everything right. Developer CD Projekt Red only announced a remake of the first game from 2007 at the end of October. Now there is also news about the award-winning ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ (2015). The next-gen update for the fantasy role-playing game is scheduled to appear in mid-December. So far, no information has been circulated beyond that, but now the upgrade is concrete.

That means the next-gen update

Editor’s recommendation

On the one hand, the next-gen update naturally affects the new consoles. Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X were not yet on the market when the game was released. But beyond that, the game is adjusted. In the future, ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ will support ray tracing, the loading times should be shorter and some mods no longer have to be installed separately. The graphics of the game, which is now seven years old, should also shine in a new, better shine.

In addition, CD Projekt Red has also collaborated with the aforementioned Netflix series – some content from the film adaptation will be part of the game. The developers want to announce what exactly has been adopted soon. Whatever it is, players on Playstation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch will later be able to access the new content via the last-gen patch.

‘The Witcher’: Numerous projects in the works

The next-gen update for ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ will be released on December 14th. The upgrade is free for anyone who already owns the game. More information will be available at a live stream event next week. And if you can’t get enough of Sapkowski’s witcher world: CD Projekt Red’s to-do list is otherwise long – the Polish studio has announced a total of five games in the universe.
