There are video game characters that are remembered long after the game is over. And sometimes, these characters are so memorable that they spawn their own spin-off. In the case of Gearbox’s ‘Borderlands’ series, that character was Tiny Tina. The thirteen-year-old bomb expert made her debut in ‘Borderlands 2’ (2012) – her lively way of assisting the players in the role of Vault Hunter was well received. The crazy NPC promptly appeared in various DLCs, in ‘Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel’ (2014) and – now grown up – in the sequel ‘Borderlands 3’ (2019). In 2022 she finally took on the leading role in ‘Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’.
‘Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’: Crazy Fantasy Experience
Editor’s recommendation
Like the other games in the ‘Borderlands’ series, it’s an action shooter, but the setting is different. Tiny Tina’s World is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game called ‘Bunkers And Badasses’, the game is a sort of sequel to the ‘Borderlands 2’ DLC ‘Assault On Dragon Keep’. Players can create their own characters, there are spells instead of grenades, and melee weapons can also be used. So you have to survive in the world that Tina leads as the game master and defeat the Dragon Lord. Stylistically, the spin-off is still a loot shooter with a comic look. The game is played in single or multiplayer mode.
Gearbox CEO announces more content
‘Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ currently has “mostly positive” reviews on Steam. Signs enough for the developers to further develop the spin-off into their own franchise. “‘Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ shattered all of our target expectations, both critically and commercially,” said Randy Pitchford, CEO of US developer Gearbox Software, during Embracer Group’s annual meeting. Other Tiny Tina projects are apparently already in development. Pitchford didn’t say what exactly, so it could be a new DLC instead of another game.
