Recently, Under Armour released some images of their upcoming Curry 2 basketball shoe. The shoe features a grey upper with yellow accents and a gradient midsole. It will retail for $130. Let’s take a look at what’s inside. Among its features are a Speedform upper, Clutchfit Drive, and HOVR cushioning system.
Under Armour’s new signature shoe
Under Armour’s new signature shoe, the Curry 2, is already causing a stir. The new model is expected to debut sometime around the end of 2021. After a long buildup, Under Armour is ready to release it. The first two iterations of the Curry line were met with a mixed reception. Many people criticized the design, while others praised the performance of the shoes.
Earlier this year, Under Armour executives travelled to the West Coast to talk to Curry about his future with the company. The company was unhappy with Curry’s decision to leave the brand in the past, and it was also having trouble selling the Curry 3 shoe. But the two sides struck a deal that ultimately benefited both Under Armour and Curry.
It has a Speedform upper
The UA Curry 2 features a Speedform upper. The design is a combination of synthetic and knit upper material, with an anatomical shape. The former provides more structure around the ankle area, while the latter offers more breathability and softness. The patented SpeedForm technology allows the shoe to mold to the foot.
Despite its low-cut design, the Curry 2 is built with tensile strength and support. The upper also has a synthetic layer at the toe and along the forefoot. This upper also features a Speedform material on the medial and lateral sides of the midsole.
It has a Clutchfit Drive
The new Under Armour Curry 2 features a Clutchfit Drive, which is a second skin upper that provides more flexibility in a high top basketball shoe. The shoe is also built on a full Under Armour Micro G cushioned midsole with an external heel counter. The new shoe is priced at $125, making it an affordable high-end basketball shoe.
In terms of comfort, the ClutchFit Drive II is similar to the original, but it lacks the firmness of MicroG. However, the brand uses Charged foam, which is firmer than MicroG and sacrifices plushness in exchange for responsiveness. As a result, the shoe feels great even after extended use and doesn’t feel stiff or sore.
It has a HOVR cushioning system
Under Armour has taken its HOVR cushioning system from running shoes to basketball sneakers. The new shoe is designed to provide bounciness and firmness while providing impact protection and court feel. It also promises explosiveness and responsiveness. Its upper is made from a lightweight woven material called Energy Web.
The HOVR cushioning system provides responsiveness and energy return while reducing weight and allowing the shoe to be lightweight. This design is also durable and has a knitted collar. Under Armour has incorporated a HOVR sensor into the Curry 2 to provide the most precise cushioning.
It has a flexible plate
The Curry 2 is a good option for people who want to get a versatile, supportive bike. It features a flexible plate that can be moved around the bike to accommodate a variety of different riding styles. It is very similar to the Curry One, and rides at the same height as it. In addition, it is built with lightweight materials and has a minimalist design. It also has a flex plate for quicker reaction time off the ground. It also has a flexible plate that helps to return energy from distance or minutes on the court.
The flexible plate is also a great feature, as it acts as a moderator to maintain stability. Other features include HOVR foam, which is shock-absorbing and energy-returning, and Micro G, which is a firm, cushioning material that provides stability under the foot. In addition to the flexible plate, the Curry 7 has a herringbone-patterned traction pattern on the outsole. This helps the shoe to provide incremental levels of grip.
It has a Charged only set up
The Under Armour Curry 2 looks similar to the original, but has a new Charged Cushioning(r) midsole. This new set up is a first for a basketball style shoe. The second version also features an “Iron Sharpens Iron” colorway. It was released in September 2015, and was worn by Stephen Curry after he won the 2015 NBA title.
The Curry 2 Low offers excellent court feel, good stability, and adequate responsiveness. The upper doesn’t improve lateral stability much, but the forefoot outrigger does. The Charged foam provides a solid all-around cushioning. It’s not as responsive as Boost, but it feels closer to the floor than Micro G and is firmer. It also gives a consistent feel from heel to toe.
It has great traction
The traction on the Under Armour Curry 2 is excellent, with the shoes featuring a decoupled heel and toe outsole. The shoe also has a large TPU plate beneath the heel for added support. This shoe provides a great transition between different surfaces, making it a great pick for basketball players.
The Under Armour Curry 2 looks more stylish than the previous model, and features a new fused and SpeedForm upper instead of Anafoam. The new upper material should offer more customization options and make the shoe fit better. While the Charged Foam is the same, the fused and SpeedForm upper materials should offer a different fit.
